Requirements To List An Organization (Under A Group Exemption) on GuideStar
- Must have its own Employer Identification Number (EIN), independent from that of a parent or national office, and
- Cannot have filed or is not planning to file a Form 1023*, Application for Recognition of Exemption Under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, with the IRS. *The request must include this written statement “No representative of this organization (insert Organization name and EIN) has filed or will file Form 1023”.

- A copy of a federal IRS issued document with the name and EIN of your organization pre-printed on it. IRS filing correspondence, payroll tax receipts, and EIN Issuance/Verification letters are all acceptable documents. (Self-certifying documents will not be accepted.)
- A copy of the letter from the Parent Organization which holds the Group Exemption to the IRS requesting the addition of your organization to their group exemption as a new subordinate under the terms of the Parent’s LOD. Letter should include your organization name, and EIN. The letter must be signed by an authorized representative of the parent organization and include the signers printed name and title. The letter must be dated not older than six months at the time of submission to GuideStar. The letter should be in non-editable PDF format. Word documents are not acceptable. Links to web documents are not acceptable
