The Demographics section of your nonprofit profile asks for your CEO, staff, and board's demographic information. To learn how to add this information for the first time, view our Help Center guide. Once you’ve entered demographic data for the first time, we encourage you to return each year to update your staff and board demographics.
Returning to update numbers follows a slightly different sequence from entering them the first time: a new window will appear and will walk you through updating each demographic category (race and ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability status) for that staff or board section.
The important thing to note is that once you enter a new staff category total, we encourage you to update each demographic category to keep your data accurate and complete.
Step 1: Enter the new total for the staff category
If you need to change the total number of staff you’ve previously reported, click the box with the total previously entered and enter a new total. Once you click outside of the box, a new window will appear. This pop-up reminds you of your previously entered total and reminds you to complete each demographic category for that staff page. If you don’t have the time to update this section completely at the moment, feel free to click Update Totals Later and return another time.
When you click Begin Updating Sections, our system will walk you through each demographic category (race and ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability) to ensure that these totals match your newly entered total.
Step 2: Enter numbers for each subcategory
In each screen, you’ll see the numbers you previously entered in the right column. This way you can refer easily to the demographic data you previously entered. Just as when you entered data for the first time, the system will keep a running subtotal to help you keep track of the numbers as you enter them.
Step 3: Keep going until you're all done!
When you’re done with each demographic category, click the Next button to be taken to the next demographic category for the staff or board page. Keep going until you’ve updated data for race and ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and disability status. Please note that if you need to stop in the middle of updating, only the data that matches your updated total will remain. This ensures that all of your organization’s data is consistent.
